Abstract

This study is aimed at understanding how various parts of Europe act as a visual element in Hindi Films in forwarding storytelling. A semiotic approach towards the Films helps in employing constructs towards the representation of Europe in Hindi Films. This is evident through the portrayal of landscapes, dialogues, songs and other visual imagery in the Films that propel the narrative. This has further led to many places in Europe emerging on the wishlist of various Indians. The study also mentions the growing trend of “Film Induced Tourism” that stems from the desire of the viewers to travel to places that they see in Films. Such phenomena have the power of promoting healthier intercultural dialogues between countries and further the vision of the sustainable development goals by helping promote a more inclusive economic growth.
