ABSTRACT: Food is most essential part of life as it’s just not a mean of survival but also exploration of culture, thoughts, bonds and communication. Food is only the mean that communicates beyond boundaries and nourishes not only the body but also the families, communities, cultures and traditions. Bharat is a land of diversity not only in its culture but also in communication that extends beyond spoken language and encompass the feelings and emotions conveyed through various sensory experiences.
This form of communication is described as olfaction process or olfactory communication, where the sense of smell becomes a powerful medium of communication and expression. Olfactory organs, responsible for detecting the redolence, are closely linked to the brain, the area that governs emotions and memories. The aromas of traditional dishes evoke strong feelings of nostalgia, joy, or comfort, deepening interpersonal connections with the incidents, seasons and flavor of festivals. Thus, the interplay between food and emotional communication highlights the importance of sensory experiences that illustrates the complex phenomenon encompassing olfactory senses and communication beyond words.
